Shipping delays: 3 tips for getting your package more quickly

Ian Lamont

Recently, EasyGenie and many other companies have seen a sharp increase in delayed packages transiting through the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) network and private carriers such as United Parcel Service (UPS). Some USPS first class packages are taking more than two weeks to be delivered, and even standard Priority Mail packages are taking more than one week to certain addresses.

For this reason, we have the following recommendations for customers:

Make sure your address is correct and complete.

Assume USPS First Class Mail or Priority Mail estimates are 2x to 4x longer than stated on the shipping page

Select USPS Priority Mail Express or UPS 3 Day Select (if available) to ensure fast delivery.

Priority Mail Express and UPS 3-Day Select are more expensive, but are prioritized by the carriers. Packages using these services should get to their destinations within 3 business days.

US Post Office shipping tips faster

There are several reasons why things are so much slower. The U.S. Postal Service is currently experiencing very long delays owing to pandemic-related workforce shortages, limitations on sending parcels by air freight, and a sharp increase in online orders. Some areas of the country are affected more than others. UPS is facing a similar surge in demand, so much so that they have limited shipments by some of their customers during peak periods.

We ask for your patience during this time, and to take advantage of the faster services (Priority Mail Express and UPS 3 Day Select) to get your order in time for holidays, birthdays, reunions, or other events.
